Publish through Transistor, and correct a live episode in place
Publish through Transistor or track any other host, correct a live episode's date or audio, and invite extra booking guests with their agreement first.
A round-up of what has reached show.fm since 4 September.
Already hosting somewhere else? If you keep your show on another host and use show.fm for bookings, show notes, guests and automations, each episode now moves through four clear stages, from a draft here to linked with the episode in your feed, and the Publish tab always shows the next step.
- On Transistor, the podcast owner connects it with an API key. You can then publish, schedule or send a draft to Transistor from show.fm, and download numbers for episodes you send this way appear in your analytics.
- On any other host, you copy the episode's details across, tell us when it is live, and we find it in your feed.
- Your existing episodes appear as a read-only catalogue, read from your feed.
- If your host is not connected yet, you can ask for it from inside the app.
Connecting an existing feed is available on paid plans. External hosting.
Correct a live episode without unpublishing it. For episodes hosted on show.fm:
- When you publish an old episode for the first time, you can give it its original publication date.
- A live episode's publication date can be changed. It stays live, and its feed entry and public page update.
- A published episode's audio can be replaced. The feed points to the new recording straight away. Podcast apps pick it up at their own pace, and copies listeners have already downloaded stay as they were. The old transcript is unpublished until you publish a corrected one.
Publication dates and replacing files.
Extra booking guests agree before they are added. When someone books and adds other guests, each of them now gets an invitation that names who added them, and can accept or decline. The joining details, calendar invite and guest portal wait until they accept. Signing up and booking also now ask you to agree to the Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy, and show.fm news emails are an unticked opt-in. Additional-guest invitations.
Magic tags and templates are quicker to work with. The tag picker has search, categories,
recently used tags and a label showing which tags are safe for public copy. Type { in a template
to insert a tag without leaving the text. Templates open in a side drawer, and the save bar tells
you what is missing and takes you to it. Magic tags.
Automations start reliably after publishing. Automations triggered by publishing, scheduling or a guest accepting now start reliably, and the Publish tab tells you if one could not. Test mode is a true dry run: it checks your conditions and records what would happen, without sending emails, calling webhooks, changing records or waiting through delays. Test an automation.
Claim your original Guest Network profile. Public profiles from the original PodcasterPlus app are back in the Guest Network directory, marked as not yet claimed. On a paid plan you can invite those people straight away, and they can book from the invitation without an account. If one of them is you, sign in or sign up with the email address you used in the original app to claim it, then choose which details to keep. Claim your profile.
