Post Episodes to WordPress

Once a WordPress site is connected, it can create a post for each episode you publish or schedule. You choose which sites post each episode, and the Publish tab shows how each one is getting on.

Choose the sites for an episode

  1. Open the episode and go to the Publish tab.
  2. Click Publish now or Schedule instead.
  3. In the dialog, under Connected sites, each site has an Also post to switch. It starts from the site's default (On by default or Off by default).
  4. Turn sites on or off for this episode, then click Publish now or Schedule.

Sites that cannot post right now (expired, disconnected or paused by plan) are listed with the switch turned off and the reason.

When you publish, sites post within a minute, or at their next check. When you schedule, sites post when the episode goes live.

To change a site's default, see Choose whether new episodes post by default.

Follow each site's progress

After you publish or schedule, the Publishing card lists each site under Connected sites:

What you seeMeaning
Posted to your site, with View postThe post is live on your site.
Saved as a draft on your siteYour site keeps new posts as drafts. Publish it from WordPress when you are ready.
Waiting for your siteThe site has the episode and is creating the post.
hasn't checked in yetThe site has not picked up your latest change yet. It checks every 15 minutes.
Will post to your site at a timeThe episode is scheduled; the site posts when it goes live.
Not posting to your siteYou turned the site off for this episode, or the site cannot post right now.

Until the site picks up your latest change, the card does not repeat what the site last reported. For example, if you publish again an episode the site had moved to draft, it says hasn't checked in yet rather than Saved as a draft. A link to the post from before your change shows as Previous post.

Sites keep their posts in step with the episode: a new title, description or show notes reach the post at the site's next check. Once someone edits the post in WordPress, show.fm changes only its date and status, so their edits stay. Cancelling a schedule cancels its planned posts too.

Embed the player in a scheduled post

A scheduled episode has a Share & embed card too. The player shows nothing until the episode goes live, so you can add it to a post scheduled for the same time. See Share & Embed.
