Connected Sites

Connected sites lists the WordPress sites that post your show's episodes. To get there, open your podcast and go to Podcast Settings → Connected sites.

Owners and Admins can see this tab. It is shown for shows hosted on show.fm.

To connect a new site, see Connect a WordPress Site.

Read a site's row

Each row shows the site's name and address, a status, when the site last made contact, the version of the show.fm plugin it runs, and when its key expires. A line under the row says what to do, if anything.

StatusMeaning
ActiveThe site posts new episodes. If it also posts other shows you can see, the row says so.
Expires soonThe site's key ends within 30 days. Reconnect from the plugin before then to keep posting.
Using scheduled checksThe site cannot receive instant updates, so it checks for new episodes every 15 minutes. Posts still arrive, just later. If the site stopped accepting our updates, the row says so and offers Reconnect.
Paused by planPosting is paused because your plan changed. Upgrade to resume. Nothing is lost while paused.
PausedThe site cannot post this show for another reason, named on the row: the person who connected it is no longer an Admin or Owner, the owner has turned off team members' API keys, or that person's account cannot use the API right now (for example, new terms need accepting). Nothing is lost while paused.
ExpiredThe key ended. The site cannot post until you reconnect it from the plugin.
DisconnectedThe site was disconnected (by its owner, or because they changed their password). Reconnect from the plugin to post again.

Sites check in every 15 minutes, or straight away when the site allows it.

When a site needs reconnecting (its key expires soon or has expired, it was disconnected, or it stopped accepting our updates), its row has a Reconnect link. It opens the show.fm plugin's page in that site's WordPress dashboard, where you reconnect it.

Take a show off a site

Use this when a site should stop posting this show but keep posting others.

  1. Click the actions button on the site's row (on a phone, tap it to open the actions sheet).
  2. Choose Remove this show from the site.
  3. Read the confirmation, then click Remove show.

The site stops posting this show's new episodes straight away. Posts it has already made stay on the site.

Disconnect a site

Only the person who connected the site can disconnect it.

  1. Click the actions button on the site's row.
  2. Choose Disconnect site.
  3. Read the confirmation, which lists every show the site posts, then click Disconnect site.

The site stops posting for every show connected to it, straight away. Posts already on the site stay there. To post again, reconnect from the show.fm plugin.

If your show is hidden from search engines

Disconnecting a site, or taking a show off it, never changes Hide from search engines. If it is on and no connected site is left for this show, the card says Hide from search engines is still on, with a link to Distribution where you can turn it off. See Hide from Search Engines.

Choose whether new episodes post by default

Each site has a default: new episodes post to it unless you turn it off when you publish, or only when you turn it on. The person who connected the site can change it.

  1. Click the actions button on the site's row.
  2. Turn Post new episodes by default on or off.

You can still change it for each episode in the Publish and Schedule dialogs. See Post Episodes to WordPress.

Add a site with WP-CLI

For sites you manage from the command line, the Add a site with WP-CLI card creates a site key for this show. See Connect from WP-CLI.

Limits

  • Each account can have up to 50 connected sites.
  • Each site key lasts a year. We email you 30 and 7 days before it expires.
