Share and Embed Your Episodes

Every published episode gets a public listen page and an embeddable audio player. Share the link anywhere, or put the player itself on your website, a sponsor's site, a blog post: anywhere HTML is allowed. The player uses your show's player colour automatically, and you can change it any time.

Where this lives

Sharing and embedding are for episodes hosted on show.fm. If your show's audio is hosted elsewhere, the Share & embed card doesn't appear, because there's no show.fm media to embed.

  1. Open the episode and go to the Publish tab. Once the episode is published or scheduled, the Share & embed card appears.
  2. Under Episode link, click the copy button.

The link looks like this and is safe to share anywhere (social posts, newsletters, show notes):

https://your-show.show.fm/e/your-episode

It opens your episode's public listen page, where anyone can play the episode without an app or account.

Paste it straight into WordPress

Listen links support oEmbed. Paste one into a WordPress embed block (and other platforms that support embed discovery) and it turns into a player automatically, no embed code needed.

Share a scheduled episode before it goes live

A scheduled episode has a Share & embed card too, with a note saying when it Goes live. You can copy the link now, and build its embed code in Embeds:

  • The player shows nothing until the episode goes live, so you can add it to a blog post scheduled for the same time.
  • The listen page opens on the go-live date.

If your site is a connected WordPress site, it can create that post for you. See Post Episodes to WordPress.

Embed this episode

Under the episode link, owners and admins see Embed on a website, with two buttons:

  • Player for this episode opens Embeds on the single player, with this episode picked.
  • Play button for this episode opens Embeds on a play button for this episode.

There you choose the look, check the live preview and copy the code, or an iframe if your website builder strips scripts (hosted WordPress plans, Notion and similar).

Embed code references your episode's permanent ID, not its title or slug, so you can rename the episode later and every embed keeps working.

The code never holds the audio itself. Visitors without JavaScript, and search engines, get a link to the episode on show.fm. The embed plays only through show.fm, so if your show is later suspended, switched off or deleted, code already on other sites stops playing too.

Embed your whole show

For a player that always plays your newest episode, perfect for a website homepage, or a list of your episodes, open Embeds from Settings → Distribution → Embed player → Open Embeds:

  • Single player with Latest episode picked updates itself each time you publish. You can copy its code before your first episode is published; it starts working the moment you publish.
  • Episode list shows your episodes as a list or a grid, with load more, seasons and filters.

Your show's player settings

Settings → Distribution → Embed player holds your show's Theme, Size, Color and Waveform, with a preview. Click Save changes to keep them, like the rest of the page.

Theme, Color and Waveform apply to every embed for your show, including players already embedded on other websites; no need to re-copy any code. Your listen pages follow the Color and Waveform settings too, while their theme matches each visitor's light or dark preference. Size is where Embeds starts; the size is baked into each embed code you copy.

Code from Embeds can pin a different theme or colour for one embed. Leave a setting at your show's value there and the embed keeps following your show.

Choose your player color

The player's accent (the play button, waveform, and scrubber) is the show.fm purple by default. To set your own:

  1. Go to Settings → Distribution → Embed player.
  2. Use the Color control: pick a colour with the swatch or type a hex value like #0E8F7E. It sets your show-wide player colour.
  3. The preview updates immediately, and the change applies to every player for your show, embeds already on other websites included. Reset to default brings back the purple.

Two things to know:

  • The Accent in Embeds does something different: a colour other than your show's is pinned into that one embed's code, ignoring the show-wide setting. Re-copy the code with your show's colour picked if you want it to follow along again.
  • Whatever colour you pick, the player automatically adjusts it just enough to stay readable against the light and dark themes, and the Powered by show.fm wordmark keeps its own colours.

Remove "Powered by show.fm"

Embedded players show a small Powered by show.fm footer by default; it tells listeners where the player comes from and links back to us.

On Creator plans and up, you can remove it:

  1. Go to Settings → Distribution → Embed player.
  2. Turn on Hide "Powered by show.fm".

The change applies to every embedded player for the show, episode embeds and the whole-show embed alike, including embeds already pasted on other sites. No need to re-copy any code.

An embed can't hide the footer on its own: the code follows this setting, so copied code or an iframe address can't remove it from a show without the feature. With the setting on, the "Powered by show.fm" switch in Embeds can show the footer again for one embed.

Plan requirement

The toggle needs the branding-removal feature from the Creator plan or above. On the Free plan the switch is locked, and the link beneath it opens an upgrade prompt. If you later downgrade, the footer returns automatically.

See embedded plays in your analytics

Plays from embedded players are counted in your download numbers automatically, to the same industry-aligned rules as every other download. Two breakdowns in the Audience section of your Analytics show you where they come from:

  • Sources: how your episodes were played: embedded players versus your listen pages versus podcast apps fetching from your RSS feed.
  • Embedded on: the websites your player is embedded on, so you can see which placements actually drive plays. This list appears once you have embedded plays.

Analytics update hourly, so give a new embed about an hour before expecting its first plays to appear.
