Account Settings
Your account settings cover everything personal to you: your profile, how you appear in the Guest Network, your password, and cards showing your subscription and storage.
To get there, click Account Settings at the bottom of the sidebar.
Find Your Way Around
The top of the page shows your name, your plan and your timezone, with five tabs underneath. The same tabs appear on every account screen, so you can move between them without going back:
| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Account | This page: your profile, visibility, plan, storage and password |
| My episodes | Every recording you have been invited to as a guest |
| AI clients | Assistants connected to your data. Included on paid plans |
| API keys | Keys your own code uses to read your data. See API keys |
| Reputation | Endorsements waiting for your decision, and your rating aggregate |
Each tab carries a count. A red number on Reputation means a host has written an endorsement about you and it is waiting for your decision.
Down the left of the page is On this page, a list of every section. Click one to jump to it. On a phone the same list opens as a sheet from the button at the top of the page.
Save Your Changes
Everything on this page except your picture waits for you to save. As soon as you change something, a bar appears at the bottom saying Unsaved changes, along with the section and field you changed. Click Save changes to keep them, or Discard to put them back.
Your profile picture is the exception. It uploads the moment you choose it, and the label next to it says so.
Update Your Identity
The Identity card holds your name, email address and picture.
Profile picture
- Click Upload (or Change if you already have one) next to your picture
- Choose a square image: at least 200x200 pixels, up to 2MB, in JPG, PNG or WebP format
- The picture uploads immediately
Click Remove to go back to your initials.
Name and email
- Full name: your name as it appears across show.fm
- Display name: the name other people see, in guest profiles and episode credits
- Email address: shown for reference. To change it, use the Email address card lower down the same page
Your name is yours
Your display name is the one hosts see on every episode you appear on, including in published credits. If a host typed something else when they invited you, your name replaces theirs.
Change Your Email Address
Your email address is the one you sign in with. You can change it yourself from the Email address card on the Account page (it is listed under On this page, just above Password).
- In the Email address card, type your new address in New email address and again in Confirm new email
- Click Send confirmation links
- We email a confirmation link to your new address and to your current one
- Open the link in both emails
Your email changes only after you confirm from both addresses. Sending to your current address too is what keeps someone who finds an open session from moving your account. Until you confirm, nothing changes and you keep signing in with your old address.
Once the change is confirmed, everything moves with it: your sign-in, the emails we send you, your billing receipts, and your support history. Replies from our support team on your existing tickets go to your new address from then on.
Use an address you can open now
Both confirmation links have to be opened, so pick a new address you can check straight away. The links expire, so if too much time passes, start the change again for fresh ones.
Fill In Your Guest Profile
The Guest profile card is what a host reads when they look you up:
- Bio: appears on your Guest Network profile and in episode credits
- Website
- Twitter/X handle: stored without the @
- LinkedIn URL: must be a linkedin.com address
Control Your Guest Network Visibility
The Guest Network card decides whether hosts can discover you as a potential guest.
Turn Profile visibility on to be listed. Hosts can then find and invite you based on your profile and expertise, and your display name, bio and picture become visible.
With visibility on, six more switches appear, grouped into Links, Contact and Reputation (seven if you own an account on the Founders plan):
- Show website link
- Show Twitter/X handle
- Show LinkedIn profile
- Protect my email address: your email is only shared with a host after you accept their invitation
- Show endorsements I have approved: hides every approved endorsement at once. You still approve each one individually first
- Show my rating on my profile: an anonymous aggregate from at least three shows, never individual ratings
- Show Founding member under my name: only if you own an account on the Founders plan. It adds a small gold star and Founding member under your name on your Guest Network card and profile, and is on by default
Beside them, How hosts see you previews your profile as a host would see it, and updates as you flip each switch. Everything in the preview is your real profile: your real bio, your real rating if you have one, and a real endorsement you have already approved.
Click Save changes to apply your choices.
Your choices are kept while you are hidden
Turning Profile visibility off removes you from the directory, but your visibility choices are remembered. Turning it back on restores exactly what you had.
Set Your Timezone
The Preferences card holds your timezone, which is used to display and schedule dates across the app. It is pre-filled from your browser, and Detect from browser refreshes it.
Your Subscription
The Subscription card shows your plan, its status, and when it renews.
- Manage billing (paid plans): opens Stripe's secure billing portal in a new tab
- Upgrade plan (Free plan): takes you to the pricing page
- Upgrade to [plan] (paid plans): starts an upgrade, which takes effect immediately and is charged pro rata
Moving down a plan sits behind Change or cancel plan, because it is the rarest and most consequential thing on the card. Click it to see the smaller plans available to you. Downgrades start at the end of your current period, and you see exactly what changes before you confirm.
If your plan is managed separately, the card points you at support instead.
Show the Founders badge
On the Founders plan, the card has one more switch: Show the Founders badge on my guest portal. While it's on, guests see a small show.fm | Founder mark in the footer of the guest portal for every show on your account. A preview of the badge sits under the switch.
The badge is on by default. To turn it off:
- Go to Account settings and find the Subscription card.
- Turn off Show the Founders badge on my guest portal.
- Click Save changes in the bar at the bottom.
Only the account owner or a billing admin can change it. The usual "Guest portal powered by show.fm" line stays in the footer either way.
This switch covers the guest portal only. The Founding member line on your Guest Network profile has its own switch in the Guest Network card. See Control Your Guest Network Visibility.
For how plans, allowances and add-on packs work, see Billing and Plans.
Your Storage
The Storage card shows the total audio stored across all your podcasts, including original masters, how much of your plan's storage that uses, and how many files it covers. On plans with unlimited storage it shows the total used with no bar.
If the figure cannot be loaded, the card says so and offers Try again. Your files are unaffected either way.
Show or Hide the Get Started Checklist
The Get started card controls the setup checklist in your sidebar, and shows how far through it you are.
Turn Show the checklist in my sidebar off to hide it, and back on to bring it back. The checklist disappears on its own once every step is complete, and the switch is then locked because there is nothing left to show.
While it is hidden we stop working out your progress, so the bar is hidden too. Turn the checklist back on and it returns with your real position.
Connected AI Clients
The Connected AI clients card lists any AI assistants reading your podcast data, with when each connected and when it last read anything. Connections are read-only and can never change your account.
Connecting an assistant is included on every paid plan. See Connect an AI assistant for the setup steps, or open the AI clients tab to manage connections.
Change Your Password
In the Password card:
- Enter your Current password
- Enter a New password (at least 8 characters)
- Re-enter it under Confirm new password
- Click Update password
Your current password must match before the new password is saved. Complete the verification check if it appears. This card saves on its own and is not part of the save bar.
Changing your password disconnects your AI clients, WordPress sites and API keys
Every connected AI assistant loses access when you change your password, and each one has to be authorised again. Every API key you hold is revoked too, so integrations using them need a new key. That includes the keys of WordPress sites you connected: each one shows as disconnected until you reconnect it from the show.fm plugin on that site. The card tells you how many AI clients, WordPress sites and API keys that is before you start. This is deliberate: if you are changing your password because you think something has access it should not, that includes assistants, sites and keys.
The same happens when you set a new password with Forgot password?. A reset is what you do after a compromise, so it disconnects every AI client and WordPress site and revokes every API key too. The sign-in page tells you when your AI clients were disconnected.
Locked out?
If you are signed out and cannot remember your password, use Forgot password? on the login page instead. See Create Your Account for the reset steps.
Sign Out
The This device card holds Sign out.
Signing out ends your session on every device, not just this one. Connected AI clients are unaffected, because they hold their own credential rather than sharing your session.
Delete Your Account
The Danger zone at the foot of the page is where account deletion will live. It is not available to do yourself yet. Contact support if you need your account removed.
